<p>At Socure, our mission is to eliminate identity fraud and verify 100% of good identities in real time. That mission comes to life through my work as a data scientist, where I let curiosity and the data itself drive me to have an impact in my daily work.</p>
<p>I have spent the last three years at Socure helping to solve one of the most critical and complex challenges in digital identity: determining the legitimacy of a person with a light digital footprint. My work helps to build a more inclusive and secure digital economy.</p>
<h3>A Career Built on Curiosity and Purpose</h3>
<p>My career in fraud detection began immediately after graduate school. I was drawn to data science because it allowed me to understand how and why systems behave the way they do. Rather than follow a path into advertising or consumer analytics, I chose to work at a company on transaction fraud: I wanted to work on problems where I could make a tangible difference.</p>
<p>Although I found the work engaging, I kept thinking about a deeper issue. The most difficult challenge I encountered was determining whether an identity could be trusted during its very first interaction with a system. That question led me to Socure.</p>
<p>I was impressed by how well Socure’s platform performed with young and thin-file applicants. That kind of performance only happens when really smart people build something great. I wanted to be part of that team.</p>

<h3>Every New Day, A New Puzzle to Solve</h3>
<p>I enjoy the variety in my role. While some positions follow a predictable routine, my days are shaped by evolving challenges.</p>
<p>There’s no such thing as a typical day for me. That’s one of the things I appreciate most about my job.</p>
<p>I often start by reviewing alerts from overnight monitoring, then explore new fraud signals and recent developments in the field. Some days are focused on technical work like developing statistical tools in Spark. Other days involve collaborating with the platform team or building generative AI tools to help other data scientists work more efficiently.</p>
<p>I value the ability to contribute in many ways. This flexibility gives me perspective on how all of Socure’s systems work together to support the mission.</p>
<h3>Transformative Projects with Measurable Results</h3>
<p>One of my most impactful projects introduced a new method for identifying fraud at scale. Traditionally, fraud detection focuses on individual transactions or past behavior. I led the development of a tool that analyzes aggregated trends across customer segments and industries.</p>
<p>By tracking suspicious activity at a broader level, the tool was able to reveal previously hidden fraud patterns within high volumes of legitimate transactions. Clients began receiving early warnings about fraud activity in their environments, which helped them respond more quickly and efficiently. The tool was later integrated into Socure’s core models and resulted in a significant increase in fraud detection rates.</p>
<p>This work gave us a new way to understand how fraud happens across the network. It helped us make better decisions by identifying threats earlier.</p>
<h3>What Sets Socure Apart</h3>
<p>I was drawn initially to Socure because the company tackles the most complex problems in identity verification. I believe many systems can detect known threats, but verifying an entirely new identity with no history requires a different level of innovation.</p>
<p>Socure does a better job than anyone else at verifying people who are just entering the system. That takes real technical skill.</p>
<p>I also appreciate working with people who are not only smart, but also motivated to do good work for the right reasons.</p>
<p>We’re not just trying to catch fraud. We’re helping people access services they deserve, without unnecessary friction.</p>
<h3>Staying Ahead of Evolving Threats</h3>
<p>I remain inspired by how quickly fraudsters adapt. Although there are a limited number of fields and entry points they can manipulate, the ways they combine and sequence those tactics are constantly changing.</p>
<p>Even with advanced models, the industry often has to respond to fraud after it happens. Socure is working to change that by using real-time data from more than 3,000 clients and billions of identity interactions to stay ahead of emerging threats.</p>

<h3>A Life Rooted in Craftsmanship and Balance</h3>
<p>Outside of work, I enjoy building and restoring things with my hands. I spend time with my wife and son and find satisfaction in projects like woodworking and home renovation.</p>
<p>I recently rebuilt a bathroom and designed a custom oak vanity from scratch. I even did the plumbing and electrical myself. There’s something very rewarding about making something that lasts.</p>
<p>Whether in the workshop or at my desk, I approach problems with patience, precision, and an eye for long-term value.</p>
<p>I pride myself on bringing a thoughtful and disciplined approach to everything I work on, from model development to woodworking projects at home. Socure’s mission is reflected in my drive to solve the most complex challenges in digital identity, along with my commitment to integrity and impact.</p>
<p>As fraud tactics evolve, I am proud to do my part to ensure that Socure remains ahead and makes digital identity safer and more accessible for everyone.</p>
