AI used for bad is terrifying. We’re using AI to fight fire with fire.

With free and easily accessible deepfake technology, criminals now have sophisticated tools to create convincing synthetic identities and falsified documents to bypass legacy identity verification systems. This exposes organizations across industries to substantial risk, costly fraud losses, and damaged consumer trust.

Socure is fighting back against these emerging threats with new document verification capabilities. Powered by a combination of computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI technology, Socure’s document verification solution creates a holistic view of identity, bringing a defense in depth approach to accurately detect fraud through deep fakes, visually indistinguishable fake IDs, or increasingly sophisticated attempts at spoofing ID verification systems.

Our computer vision models, patented fake ID detection, and robust biometric verification capabilities target the attack, not the customer experience.

Leveraging the rich identity graph at Socure, predictive risk signals use additional data sources to show additional context about the digital identity beyond what is on the document itself, such as device and behavioral data through our Digital Intelligence suite, to provide more accurate results.

DocV delivers an automated response in under 2 seconds, with real-time quality checks (on device and server-side) to ensure high confident decisions with fewer resubmits. This means that you can see unmatched accuracy while providing a modern, thoughtful user experience.

Fighting Deepfakes and Spoofed Docs with Predictive AI

Unlike other point solutions focusing narrowly on documents, Socure analyzes identity more holistically. Its predictive signals network incorporates biometrics, personally identifiable information (PII), device intelligence, behavior patterns, and additional fraud indicators to provide trusted digital identity decisions. This context aids predictions even with high-quality spoofed credentials.

This launch also includes two key generative AI capabilities:

  • Deepfake Selfie Detector: The deepfake model — trained using thousands of deepfake images from several generative AI models — can flag deep fake selfies that are indistinguishable to the human eye, providing another layer of protection in the rapidly changing landscape of ID document and biometric verification. Below are just a few of these deepfake images we generated.
  • Barcode Enhancements: Tampered and blurry barcodes can remove key data points from the overall identity picture presented by document verification. Socure’s AI “reconstructs” damaged barcodes to extract data cleanly and prevent document verification rejections, giving highly accurate, rich information for our data-driven models.

Rapid yet thorough document verification is essential across many industries and types of businesses.

Here are just a few where Predictive DocV can help:

The Future of Trusted Digital Interactions

Socure’s visual consent process and sub-two-second document verifications enable fast, user-friendly experiences. And with accuracy exceeding 98%, organizations can prevent fraud without turning away good customers.

As criminals creatively exploit new technology, businesses must stay one step ahead with smarter AI safeguards. Generative AI, when applied responsibly, can be used to protect identities, deter crime, and build trust. And with advanced document verification powered by predictive insights, Socure offers a formidable defense in DocV.
