Address Verification Service

Address Verification Service

The Address Verification Service (or AVS) refers to a service for verifying consumer information. AVS services can involve validating that a shipping address correlates with an identity or refer to a service set up by credit card processors that allow merchants to verify the ownership of a card when it is used online by a consumer. In the credit card use case, AVS verifies that the billing address entered by the consumer is the same as the one associated with the cardholder’s credit card account.
